It's My Birthday!

Guys...

I love birthdays. I freaking love birthdays.

I know I should be all gracious about it. "Oh you remembered? Thanks so much. No big deal though."

But really? I am freaking out. Days, if not weeks, in advance.

And OMG. Facebook on your birthday is probably the best thing ever.

Remember the days before they started bundling notifications? Seeing that 99 in the little red bubble was the BEST. And your email inbox is full of free birthday coupons! Yay!

And then.. there are PACKAGES!
And cards full of money! People pay you for being born! They love you that much!

If that wasn't enough... you also get PRESENTS!
Presents always always always make you feel like a 10 year-old in footie pajamas.

All you have to do is survive, but at the end of the day, your friends still want to celebrate!

Pretty much, birthdays make you feel pretty dang magical.

So rejoice my friends. It's my freaking Birthday.

Under the Sea

I have two great fears:
1. Being trapped in a spaceship
2. Being trapped in a submarine
Something about being stuck in a machine where no one can help you... shiver. And I probably saw Apollo 13 and U-571 way too early in life.

So it's a bit of a conundrum that I love to scuba dive. Hands down, it's my favorite thing.  So when my husband invited me to the wonderful world of maine life courtesy of the Dallas World Aquarium, I was down like a frown. Now, I'm about to photo dump, but it's okay because dez just cute wittle aminals.

Breck sharing his Anaconda knowledge.

Monkey business

Super fashionable stingray

Sloths!!! They were holding hands.

Heyro Mr. Frog

The shark tank!

Breck was terrified.

This seahorse was the size of my pinky nail! Adorable!

After, we crossed off another one of our restaurants from Dinners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Now, I've had Chicago style pizza in Chicago and New York style Pizza in New York... but guys, Cane Rosso takes the pie. (Eh? Eh? Get it???)

We sat at the pizza bar and watched them craft each masterpiece.

We split the "Zoli". If you are ever in Dallas, this is the most important thing you will do.

Break hit and happy Saturday!

Lebster or Something

My friend Amanda over at Carefree Blonde is a sweetie and nominated me for the Liebster award.

Alright so as part of the (very formal) award acceptance, I answer questions:

1. What was your first job?
I've always been a money whore. Even now I'm considering a third job, just because pay checks give me a high. So at the ripe old age of 14 (which I'm pretty sure is illegal) I was working at a snow cone booth outside of H-E-B. I had wayyyy too much sugar that summer and became a master bee killer.

2. If you could be any celebrity for a day who would it be and why?
Alive or dead? If dead is an option I would go with the lovely Audrey Hepburn. If not, I'd probably choose Blake Lively. Not because her gorgeous hair or body... but because she comes with:

3. What is your go to perfume scent?
Light Blue courtesy of D&G. That's how I hooked my Mr.! I walked by him and he chased after me to ask what perfume I was wearing.

4.What is your guilty pleasure?
Reality TV. WHY CAN'T I CHANGE THE CHANNEL, DANCE MOMS??? WHY???

5. Who's your Fashion Icon?
Well... I don't think about fashion that much/ever. I usually just get whatever is on the mannequin. So... the mannequin at Banana Republic is my fashion icon. And my body icon. You go mannequin.

6. What is the next piece you are dying to add to your wardrobe?
Everything from Ted Baker. I mean... I can't even... So beautiful. Check it out HERE. But being in the store is like being in Blair Waldorf's closet.

7. Do you prefer going to classes at the gym or doing your own routine?
I mean I wish I could go to a class. But usually I'm like, "Oh I'm 2 minutes late! I guess I missed that cool Zumba class... guess I'll just stay home and eat some Cap'n Crunch." So I do my own gym thing.

8. What is your favorite snack?
Two pieces of Ritters Sport dark chocolate sandwiching real peanut butter. I don't mess around.

10. What is your idea of a perfect night out with the ladies?
Getting ready together, red bull, dancing, late night treats, forts, chick flicks, middle morning adventures, sleepovers, giant breakfasts in the morning. Makes me miss my BAMFE girls!!!
11. What got you into blogging?
I lived in a mortuary and thought it was worthy of documenting. Now I try to be entertaining.

P.S. Have y'all heard this Angie Miller girl SING??? Holy Smokes!

Ugly Sexy

Am I the only person that has giant crushes on technically "unattractive" celebrities? You know, the people who you wouldn't look at twice if you passed on the street but after being exposed to their skills would gladly camp outside a place they were rumored to be in order to absorb some of their cool prowess?
Well... I do. My list includes:

1. Macklemore.

Because:
Harry Potter references never get old. Also this is fantastic:

2. Sir Sandor Clegane.

Because:
Two words. "Little Bird."

3. Seth Meyers.

Because:

and

and

and

4. Marcus Mumford.

Because:

I must of listened to each of thier songs hundreds of times and they can still bring me tears or have me dancing like a mad woman.

5. Ryan Gossling.
Kidding. He is beautiful and perfect in every way. But just in case you need convincing:

Where the Locals Eat

For those of you who aren't obsessed with the Food Network, here is a good tip for finding GREAT new places to eat in your area.

FN has a bunch of shows where specialized chefs travel the USA looking for the best foods. Our favorite, Diners. Drive-ins, and Dives, features little hole in the wall places that you wouldn't find unless someone told you about it. If you visit THIS LINK the Food Network has compiled a map of everywhere their chefs have gone AND what the place is known for.

What I am trying to say is, this week was a fat week.

A delicious, delicious fat week.

Other things that happened:

1. Breck and I got in our very first fight! Of course, it was after a game night (see here). It was very, very funny and we celebrated afterwards with pizza and decided that we much prefer being best friends. Is this TMI? I don't know, I feel like we graduated from something.

2. We went thrift shopping! We found:
a) A game of Trivial Pursuit. We have decided to dedicate a few minutes every day to memorize cards so we can be the be the greatest team of all eternity. Surrender now or prepare to fight!

(If you don't get that reference, know with with certainty that you are exponentially cooler than I am.)

b) The Dave Ramsey financial planner pack (valued at $70 bought for $3) so hopefully we can stop spending all our money on food and thrift shopping. (Great accidental product placement.)

c) LSAT study books! Long story short, there is this kid I know that never ceases to brag about how he is in law school. Exact quote, "Sorry to the non-law schoolites, some of the references may be over your head." It bugs me. So I've decided to pull a Legally Blonde.

3. After ten years of my older brother encouraging me to read it, I finished Dune! It's supposed to be the sci-fi book of the century. I was underwhelmed. BUT, right now I'm reading The Count of Monte Cristo and it is the bee's knees! A total BFBWTE. Big Fat Book worth the effort. Yes I made that up right now.

Alright. Break hit.
